Where the Jobs Are Growing
Despite the area’s high unemployment rate and a struggling economy, the Ocala/Marion County Economic Development Corporation and area partners have attracted many new companies over the past year including American Spaceframe Fabricators International, Duratek, Shuttleliner, Strategic Marketing Enterprises, Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC), Scorpion Performance Inc. and Sunair Electronics. Maslow Insurance Agency
A Subsidiary of Taylor, Bean and Whitaker
Taylor, Bean and Whitaker Mortgage Company (TB&W), one of the top 10 national mortgage lenders, has done it again. They have added Maslow Insurance Agency as their newest subsidiary, creating a special package of insurance services to protect new home owners. They are currently recruiting insurance agents with 2-20, 2-15 and 20-44 licenses for 12 to 9 p.m. shifts. Insurance agents receive a guaranteed salary plus performance bonuses, qualified leads and the same great benefits as TB&W employees.
For interested and selected applicants that are not licensed, but have a strong sales aptitude, Maslow in partnership with Workforce Connection will cover insurance training and certification costs along with a training wage of $10 an hour.
Custom Freight Carriers, Inc. of Ocala
If you have a CDL Class A driver’s license and two years of over the road experience, you may qualify as an OTR driver for this new company. Applicants must have clean driving records, no background issues, ability to travel to Canada on occasion and excellent people and customer service skills.
Strategic Marketing Enterprises
Located on East Silver Springs Blvd. in the old BB&T bank building, one of Marion County’s newest employers is seeking outbound customer service sales agents. Work in a professional environment with paid training and guaranteed hourly rates, plus commission and benefits package. Some sales experience is preferred, but not required.

Workforce Connection is the local, business-led organization that plans and coordinates quality employment and training services for businesses and individual career seekers in Citrus, Levy and Marion Counties of Florida. The workforce board sets policy and directs expenditures of more than $6 million in funds that underwrite services provided through the Workforce Connection offices.
Approximately 1,500 businesses and 30,000 career seekers receive services through the Workforce Connection each year. Services include professional and technical recruitment, training, job fairs and financial incentives.
